Iridium Satellite Plans
Iridium satellite plans enable Iridium phones and devices to work with the Iridium satellite network. It provides pole-to-pole coverage with a sophisticated constellation of Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. This improves transmission paths, latency, and broadcast signals.
Depending on where you will be using satellite communication, you can get Iridium plans for Canada, Africa, North America, Latin America, or the Iridium Northern Lights plan. Choose any global or maritime cover to stay connected from any location in the world.
When to use Satellite
Satellite communications are independent of terrestrial networks and advanced satellite technology has helped us overcome physical challenges by communicating upwards.
So, if you want to be prepared for severe weather or war disasters, or you’re planning to visit an isolated region that doesn’t have any communication infrastructure then satellite is the best option to stay connected to the rest of the world.
Iridium Connectivity Plans
Iridium service plans cover different scenarios and requirements through the postpaid, prepaid and monthly plans on offer at Canada Satellite.
Iridium Phone Plans
Iridium satellite service plans provide a choice of region-specific and global prepaid and postpaid options for your satellite device.
Prepaid has the advantages of day-to-day use without long-term billing commitments. Iridium postpaid plans offer consistent and reliable communications without the hassles of topping up or running out of airtime credit.
Iridium GO! Plans
Device-specific, this plan offers an SMS-centric prepaid solution for the Iridium GO! Satellite Terminal and Wi-Fi Hotspot allowing connected devices to access voice and data satellite services.
Choose from the Iridium prepaid or postpaid SIM Card or sign up for a 3-, 6- or 12-month contract offering varying rates and conditions.
Short Burst Data (SBD) Plans
Iridium Short Burst Data is a simple but effective short data message transmission between computers and devices. SBD is primarily used in industries such as government, military, and maritime. The SBD plans have different rates per 1000 bytes for the Iridium SBD Basic postpaid plan and Iridium SBD 12kb Bundle.
Pilot/Open Port
The Iridium Pilot is an omni-directional satellite antenna designed for any maritime environment. Iridium OpenPort broadband airtime is available for the Iridium Pilot with a 3- or 12-month contract, which makes this plan very flexible and cost-effective for both annual and seasonal use.
Push-To-Talk
Iridium PTT offers a range of benefits for small and medium talkgroups that can be setup across multiple global locations.
Each Iridium Push-To-Talk device and service can be activated and used with one of the Iridium PTT service plans:
- Iridium Push to Talk Global Monthly Plan on a 12-month contract.
- Iridium Push to Talk Global Monthly Plan with 150 Pooled Minutes on a 12-month contract.
Iridium Certus
The Iridium Certus Marine Internet System has several postpaid plans for satellite communication. Monthly subscription and plan rates vary for voice and data. You can purchase a 10MB plan or 10 GB plan, depending on your usage requirements.
Iridium Global Coverage Map
Iridium delivers essential communications services to and from remote areas where no other form of communication is available. Powered by a uniquely sophisticated global constellation of 66 cross-linked Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, the Iridium® network provides high-quality voice and data connections over the planet’s entire surface, including across airways, oceans, and polar regions. Together with its ecosystem of partner companies, Iridium delivers an innovative and rich portfolio of reliable solutions for markets that require truly global communications.
At only 780 kilometers from the Earth, the proximity of Iridium’s LEO network means pole-to-pole coverage, a shorter transmission path, stronger signals, lower latency, and shorter registration time than with GEO satellites. In space, each Iridium satellite is linked to up to four others creating a dynamic network that routes traffic among satellites to ensure global coverage, even where traditional local systems are unavailable.
